Brook Glenn Elementary School was visited on
October 27, 2009 by several of the
Buccaneers, which is a new
Upstate
Hockey Team, who have been traveling
the upstate with a powerful message in
observance of Red Ribbon Week...."Just Say
No To Drugs" They visited each of our
classes K4-1st classes spreading there
message, distributing McDonald Certificates,
and giving students a FREE pass to attend
one of their Hockey Games with the chance to
go back stage for hand shakes and
autographs!
Our little ones were blown away as the
Buccaneers had a special guest with them.
Who might that special guest have been? Well
it was the Buccaneers very own mascot
penguin. Although penguins are known to
survive in cool climax, this one quickly
became very
warm by the hugs from our students as
they welcomed him to their rooms. After a
visit with our little ones came a Pep Rally
given also by the Buccaneers and the famous
mascot Penguin. There message was the same
"Just Say No To Drugs" and students were
afterwards given the chance to receive the
same awards as our little ones if they made
a promise to remain
Drug Free
with an added message that "Drugs are
for Losers...so be a real winner and stay
Drug Free".
In 2010, the Buccaneers will
return to action, visiting five
different schools in Taylors and
Greenville. Stops are being planned at
Brook Glenn, Brushy Creek, Taylors
Elementary, Northwood Middle school and
Mountain View Elementary. McDonald's
will be supplying the coupons to all
participants for a "FREE" hot chocolate
to all who stay and remain, "DRUG
FREE"...
So Remember, start practicing,
"JUST SAY NO!"
